For parents, carers & teachers

Welcome to the Pets on the Green Skill Workbook 8 β€” Key Stage 5 skills for learners in Sixth Form, aged 16–18. Every skill is framed as something your learner can do, not as an exam specification or grade boundary. This workbook is suitable for independent revision, subject enrichment, or bridging support between GCSE and A-level.

How to use it

Each unit has three lessons, each following the same pattern: Read it (the core idea and a worked example), See how (a stepped example to follow), then You try (three multiple-choice questions). There is no timer and nothing to fail. Wrong answers receive a supportive prompt to try again; the workbook only moves on when all three questions in a lesson are correct.

SEND and neurodivergent learners

All questions are multiple choice β€” no extended writing is required at any stage. The design is calm and uncluttered, with no scores, streaks or leaderboards. Progress is saved automatically in the browser; learners can close and reopen the workbook at any point without losing their place.

Brain break idea

Between lessons, encourage a 2–3 minute break: a short walk, a glass of water, or a brief conversation about what was just read. Research consistently shows that spaced breaks improve retention β€” particularly valuable for learners with ADHD, anxiety or processing differences.

Answer key

The correct answer for every question is shown here so you can support your learner without guessing.

When the skill is done

Your learner earns a printable certificate they can name and display. They also collect animal stamps on a reward chart β€” one per lesson completed. Completing all four units and twelve lessons earns a full chart.
